Ellington House and estate was once in the ownership of the Sprackling family.
In 1653, Adam Sprackling was hanged for the murder of his wife and six dogs and is allegedly buried (near his wife) in St. Laurence Church.
In 1892, the house and grounds were conveyed to the Ramsgate Corporation and turned into Ellington Park.
In 1962, this was the venue for a pageant to commemorate the 900th anniversary of St. Laurence Church.
