Looking Forward
Radford House, Ramsgate's old fire station, has been waiting for everything to be in place in order for essential renovations to begin. Many Ramsgate residents have visited the building over the last 18 months whilst the Town Council have opened it up for a trial period for events and have rented the upstairs rooms as workspaces. People have given great feedback on the building and its new purpose, as a town centre community space for events, classes, support groups, public meetings and work or meeting space rentals.
The old fire engine hall needs a spruce up, without losing its character as a working space. This is the first part of the buildings closure, so work can begin. The regular sessions that have been using the hall are all rehoused around town - have a look at the list below - whilst for now Chat Time (10:30am - 1pm on Tuesdays) and the monthly Repair Cafe (Second Sundays, 11am - 1pm) will continue at the building.
We all look forward to seeing this historic Ramsgate site develop, not losing any of its history but retaining its place in Ramsgate, with a new vital purpose. The Town Council is keen to hear from any organisations and individuals who have ideas for inclusive community activities which might benefit from using the space. They invite you to get in touch during the renovations.
