10 September 2023

Since opening our doors for a celebration of the Coronation on May 6, 2023, there have been a host of different people and organisations coming to Radford House (the old fire station in Effingham Street), for events and meetings.

The building was purchased by Ramsgate Town Council for the benefit of our community, and urgent renovation will begin later this year. Until then, the seven workspace rooms upstairs and the large ‘fire engine’ hall are all open for use by individuals, groups and organisations. We have a very realistic affordable hire fee structure and will discuss any requests from the public to use these workspaces.

Access Ramsgate is a group set up by Laura Probert to share information and make improvements to help people get safely around Ramsgate, whether walking or using a mobility aid. The group is free to join and meets every fortnight in the hall on Wednesdays 11am – 1pm.

We host Chat Time sessions on Tuesdays from 10:30am – 1pm, when anyone is welcome to drop in, have refreshments and talk to us about Ramsgate and things to share, enjoy or find out about. There will be occasional special guests, and we look forward to meeting you!

We have Tobias Hodson, a watercolour artist, in residence in one of the rooms upstairs, which is now his working studio space. We have rooms available for people looking for somewhere quiet to work, on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

In September, we are holding several events including a Print & Photography Workshop for all ages at 10am and 1pm on Saturday September 2; the new Ramsgate Design Awards organised by the Ramsgate Society from 6pm on Friday September 15; then our first Ghost Hunting Night from 8pm to 2am on Friday September 29!

Events continue right through October, including East Kent Artists Open Houses. To check out all our events, you can visit the Ramsgate Town Council website (www.ramsgatetown.org), or catch us on Facebook at Radford House.

If you’d like to be on our mailing list, please email Radford.events@ramsgatetc.org.uk or call us on 07939 542990.
