There are only three evenings left in September for Mrs Fox’s Skulduggery Tour of Ramsgate on Friday September 8, 15 and 22. Steal yourself for a saunter into the town’s intriguing past if you dare.
Mrs Fox will take you on a thrilling two-hour guided tour starting at 7pm from the Obelisk by Ramsgate’s Harbour, a walk that extends as far as Ellington Park and back. We explore the dark and mysterious side of Ramsgate, including tales of scandal and intrigue, with a dollop of the town's social history, as we follow in the footsteps of smugglers, murderers and smack boys.
As a special treat – on October 31 at 6:30pm, meeting at the Obelisk, Mrs Fox will guide you through a two-hour Halloween walk - keep your wits about you for footpads and phantoms. This is not your average tourist tour, so be prepared for a spine-tingling experience.
Mrs Fox is played by Ramsgate resident Tracy Russell, a costumed historical interpreter with over twenty years’ experience, ‘bringing history to life’ in schools, museums and heritage sites, like Hampton Court Palace, the Tower of London, Dover Castle and many more places. Her repertoire includes various Queens of England, Mary Anning, Florence Nightingale, Victorian cooks, and a host of characters somewhat down on their luck. Mrs Fox is her latest character created especially for Ramsgate.
Tracy is also part of Ramsgate’s Walkie-Talkie Audio – a company that produces entertaining audio tours including ‘Harbour Highlights’ that can be downloaded for free on the Useeum app.
Tracy says: “Ramsgate has such a fascinating history – not only its association with royalty and the beginnings of tourism, the Napoleonic era, and the Second World War but also a darker, forgotten past which sheds light on the goings-on of many coastal towns as well as having its own unique qualities. It’s a town with a great historical legacy.”

‘I learnt more about Ramsgate in two hours than I did in 15 years as a local.’
