During August, Thanet hosted the Eat Well, Spend Less roadshow, an initiative to provide residents with the opportunity to get expert advice on nutrition, wellbeing and locally available support from a whole host of partner organisations.

Featuring Thanet District Council’s (TDC) Community and Home Energy Officers, frontline NHS Staff as well as guidance from Our Kitchen, the roadshow visited the Isle’s five major towns across four days. In total, the team gave out over 170 free ingredients and recipe bags (including Coconut and Lentil Dhal), and engaged with over 20 families at each event. This kind of engagement is absolutely crucial to provide targeted help and advice for local families who may need extra support as a result of rising food and energy prices.

Thanet Children’s Centres provided activities, information and free goody bags for the children, whilst Social Enterprise Kent were informing residents aged 55 and over about the support and activities they are eligible for. Also in attendance were One You Kent, Diabetes UK and Macmillan, all giving support and advice in their respective fields.

If you weren’t able to attend the roadshow, you can find more information on available support on TDC’s website - www.thanet.gov.uk/info-pages/eat-well-spend-less-roadshows/
