Electric Vehicle Trial for Ramsgate Town Council

Home / About Ramsgate / News / Electric Vehicle Trial for Ramsgate Town Council

30 August 2022

The Town Council’s Technicians today took delivery of an electric Renault Kangoo utility van. This vehicle is part of the “Kent REVS Up for Cleaner Air” scheme that Kent County Council is running, following receipt of £1.5million of Highway England Funding. The aim of the project is that organisations will see the benefits and ease of owning and running an EV. The project contributes to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 for the county, a key aspiration of the Kent & Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy.

There are 39 vans currently available to trial for free, for up to 2 months, with a further 9 vans due to be delivered in 2022. The scheme is available to businesses, charities and public sector organisations in Kent and Medway who wish to try before they buy. More details about the scheme can be found at https://lowcarbonkent.com/kent-revs-van-trial

The Council resolved to review its fleet (currently a classic diesel van and two vintage milk floats), with the intention of getting the right vehicles for the job, with a move towards green energy if and where possible. The Council’s Climate Change Task Group will be working with the Technician’s to discuss their requirements and produce a plan.
