Kent Police Update - July 2022

Home / About Ramsgate / News / Kent Police Update - July 2022

01 July 2022

It is always a pleasure to be asked to write an article for Ramsgate Town Council. My colleague PCSO Rougvie and I like to take it in turns and get together to write something positive.

We are expecting a busy summer in Ramsgate, as this will be the first for a couple of years without any COVID restrictions, we hope. I know from speaking to businesses that they are hoping to be able to greet visitors back to our wonderful town. Speaking to many, they had a great summer last year once restrictions were lifted and hope to see a few returning guests. From a Police point of view, we had a good summer last year with many people coming to the town and the beaches. We did have a summer plan in place and there will be a similar plan again this year, which may mean that you will see more of us about in busy locations, such as the beach.

Ramsgate has again been entered into the South and South East in Bloom Competition this year. This is our third year, and we are using the Platinum Jubilee as the theme this year for our colour scheme. Judging will be taking place on July 6 and we look forward to welcoming the judges again.
Ramsgate is also holding its own competition, Ramsgate in Bloom. This has been open to different categories of entries, again with the Platinum Jubilee as the colour scheme. Judging will be done at the end of July/August. We are hoping the town will be blooming for all to enjoy.

PCSO Rougvie and I will be holding our monthly surgeries throughout the summer. Please look out for dates on Twitter - @kentpolicethan twitter page and for posters around town, as well as on My Community Voice (see separate article for this initiative). Meetings are on first come, first served basis, and unfortunately may have to be cancelled at short notice for urgent operational reasons.

We have a new member of the team at Ramsgate, PC Ryan Brown, who has joined PC Ballen and PC Hills covering Ramsgate Town. The full list of Ramsgate officers is as follows:

PCSO Litchfield and PCSO Rougvie cover Central Harbour, Nethercourt, Cliffsend and Pegwell wards.
PCSO Parsons cover Sir Moses Montefiore and Eastcliff wards.
PCSO Smith and PCSO Greenleaf cover Newington and Northwood wards.

Ramsgate Police Station is open Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. When the station is closed, there is a yellow phone located outside the front entrance that can be used, free of charge, to report any issues.

Alternatively, incidents can be reported by calling 101 or online via the Kent Police website. If you see any crimes in progress or an emergency, please call 999.
