News / Key Updates - Extraordinary Council Meeting
An extraordinary meeting was arranged in order to discuss a number of time sensitive matters; from TDC’s disposal of the Granville Theatre, to the schedule of council meeting for the ensuing year.
- The Council has resolved to draft a “Community Asset Strategy”; whereby the Council will set out what it can do to ensure that assets with a clear community value, or potential community value, are retained in public ownership. The Strategy will provide a transparent and clear policy and approach to be used when community assets owned by TDC are to be sold or are at risk of being sold.
- Additional funding was approved in order to progress a 20mph zone in the Nethercourt Estate. It is hoped that this scheme will give the Council experience in such a project and help inform whether 20mph schemes would be useful in other areas of Ramsgate.
- A grant of £2,626.00 was awarded to the Friends of Ellington Park to install a Petanque Piste at the park, this facility will be free for residents to use.
- A schedule of meeting dates for the 2022/2023 year was approved, which can be found on our website. The Council is now going to have monthly council meeting (as opposed to quarterly) in order to ensure that business is transacted as quickly as possible.
This is not a summary of everything covered at this meeting, please see the official Minutes for the legal record of the meeting. You can also watch the meeting itself on our YouTube channel. The above is intended to provide a snapshot of matters that may be of particular interest to residents.
