Godfrey Power's Giant Garlic and Giant Pumpkin grown at Chilton Lane East Allotment Site.
In the summer Chilton Lane East entered a Kent Wild Life competition and we did very well.
The Chilton school plot achieved a bronze award and Chilton Lane East allotments achieved silver.
One of the judges also volunteers for the National Trust at Standen House and mentioned to the people, (who are re-creating the kitchen garden), about Godfrey's giant garlic, they asked if they could have some to grow in the kitchen garden.
The garlic will be attributed to Godfrey with a plaque next to the garlic saying: 'Godfrey Power's Giant Garlic, Grown at Chilton Lane East Allotments, Ramsgate, Kent.' The garlic was duly collected last week.
A Chilton Lane East plot holder and Godfrey had a competition to see who could grow the largest pumpkin. Godfrey supplied the plants and needless to say Godfrey won. The pumpkin is being donated to a local school. It is yet to be weighed.
