/ Tom Chapman: honoured to be club captain
Tom Chapman is honoured to be confirmed as club captain ahead of the 2020/21 Isthmian South East campaign.
Chapman is Ramsgate’s longest serving player having arrived at Southwood in 2012 as an 18-year-old having played for Dover Athletic in his youth.
The dynamic winger, aged 26, is also one of the senior players in the dressing room and will be key in the development of youth players, as Matt Longhurst, the manager, looks to promote raw talent from the reserves and under 18s to the first team.
Speaking ahead of Ramsgate’s curtain raiser against Chichester City, Chapman spoke of his excitement of finally returning to competitive league football and of pride in his role at the club:
“It’s an honour to be given the role as club captain by the gaffer for the upcoming season and I’m absolutely buzzing for the campaign to get started,” he said.
“The club is certainly heading in the right direction, from the junior teams right through to the men’s and women’s first team and it’s great to be part of it!
We have certainly got a very talented group of players this year and I am hoping we can push for promotion.
I look forward to seeing you all at Southwood this season.”
Longhurst has named Ryan Johnson as first team captain with Lee Prescott as vice-captain.
With pre-season finished, Matt has also named his final squad that will battle for Isthmian glory this season.
