Town Promoter Update - June 2020

Ramsgate Harbour
I love writing about this time of year in Ramsgate. We are lucky we benefit from some of the finest weather the UK has to offer!

I think the hardworking businesses are what make our town and harbour special and that sometimes gets lost in the poor social media outlook of towns, not just in Ramsgate but across the UK; ‘The High Street is dead’, ‘Too many empty shops’, ‘There’s nothing in town anymore’ to mention a few of the negative comments you might find.

With over 200 businesses in Ramsgate, many of which are independent, I beg to differ.

Yes, the town might not be as it was in the 70s, 80s and 90s but show me a town that is. The simple truth is, we all rely heavily on our devices to do the talking and walking and this is what has caused towns to suffer the most. It’s not all about parking charges, high business rates or even out-of-town shopping centres it’s mainly just us and our new habits in my humble opinion!

Once this is all over, I really hope you will come down and support your town traders and hopefully be pleasantly surprised at the rich culture and mix of shops you have on your doorstep!
