The New Year was heralded in with a fantastic firework display, and 2020 was certain to be a busy year. My New Year’s Day started with a street clean of Harbour Street, clearing up after the previous night’s big celebration.

As your Thanet District Councillor I have worked hard to ensure that the centre of Ramsgate gets the cleaning and regeneration it needs to thrive. As a Ramsgate Town Councillor I promise to continue to work hard for all my residents in bringing much needed revenue to the town through tourism.

Working together with Your Leisure we hope to make the sports centre fully accessible for people with disabilities including those with visual impairments. It was in the spirit of unity that I was proud to be part of Stand Together, where interfaith leaders joined to mark the 75th anniversary of Holocaust Memorial Day.

Organising the event has made me more aware of the need for a unified and inclusive community.

My thoughts and prayers go to all those who have been affected by the COVID-19 virus. Ramsgate has gone through some tough times, but I believe we can meet the challenges and keep building up our town’s fortunes. I know it can often feel overwhelming, but if we each give a little of our time and effort, together we can make Ramsgate better.

This year I resolved to pick up any litter that I see when I am walking around our town.

I hope you will be mindful of the waste we create and help reduce the amount of rubbish which goes to landfill. I hope together we can show everyone why Ramsgate town along with its parks, gardens, beaches and harbour are the Jewel of Kent.
