Active Ramsgate, an initiative of Ramsgate Town Council, is designed to support economic development in the town by promoting the Ramsgate area to visitors and residents through an inspiring range of outdoor activities. The initiative has been running successfully for many years, and this campaign is the latest activity planned by the team.
A new leaflet has been designed, which can be downloaded here
, but is also available on the Active Ramsgate website,
, detailing all of the fantastic activities on offer in Ramsgate. The aim is to encourage residents and visitors alike to try something new, even if it’s just following one of the four walking trails on offer. There’s something for everyone.
How about scuba diving, for example? Did you know that Ramsgate is one of the most exciting places in the UK to dive, with over 2,000 shipwrecks just off the coast?
Or kitesurfing? We were one of the venues for this year’s British Kitesurfing Championships, and Ramsgate is the perfect destination to give this thrilling sport a go. (it’s the wind, we’re in a great spot!)
Canoeing or kayaking? The team has developed two trails which allow you to explore the coast and you can even paddle through Pegwell Bay, a wonderful new perspective which allows you to get up close and personal with nature.
But it’s not all about the coast – Ramsgate is one of the few destinations in the UK where you can play one of the hottest new sports – pickleball! A cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis, there’s fun to be had with all the family.
Or you can simply take it easy and take part in a birdwatching tour, learn from the experts about the best spots to see some of the many species that can be found in the area.
To summarise, there are so many things to do in and around Ramsgate that the team struggled to get it all into one leaflet. But they did, and now the leaflet is being distributed right through Kent and into London. We have such a fantastic town, and it’s wonderful to be able to show it off!
So, if you spot one of the leaflets around town, do pick them up and see what’s on offer, you might be surprised what you can do. And don’t forget to tell the team about it, you can connect with them on Facebook
