News / Weekly Security Patrol Update - 15 December
Ramsgate Town Council receives weekly patrol logs, photos, and bodycam footage from our Probe Security officers. To keep everyone informed, we share a weekly update on what’s happening in our town.
What our security officers did last week (8 – 12 December 2025):
- Tackled street drinking and anti-social behaviour: Officers regularly spoke to people drinking in public, asked them to bin their cans, and stepped in to calm down aggressive or confrontational behaviour. In one case, they managed to de-escalate a situation with two aggressive individuals on York Street and moved them on.
- Supported local businesses: Officers checked in with shops, responded to reports of shoplifting at Poundland, and worked with staff to deter repeat offenders. They also gave Thanet Safe details to local shops and listened to concerns from business owners.
- Helped vulnerable people: Officers spoke to homeless individuals, checked on their welfare, and worked with police when needed. For example, they spoke to a homeless person about suspicious behaviour and helped calm down two people who were shouting in the street.
- Kept public spaces safe: Regular patrols covered parks, car parks, gardens, the sea front, and busy streets. Officers checked for issues, responded to reports of suspicious behaviour, and made sure these areas were safe for everyone.
- Engaged with the community: Officers spoke to residents, passers-by, and councillors, who gave positive feedback about their visible presence. They also supported local events, such as the Christmas Lights Switch On event, helping to keep things running smoothly.
The security team is out every day, talking to people, checking trouble spots, and stepping in when needed.
Please remember: These security officers do not replace the police. Residents and business owners must still report all crimes and emergencies directly to Kent Police.
Look out for our next update next week!
