We currently have around 350 names on the waiting list, but not all of those names are active. What does this mean? Each year, we contact every person on the allotment waiting list and ask them to confirm whether they still wish to have an allotment. Those that do not reply or have an invalid email address are made inactive on the list.
When an allotment is made available, only active individuals receive a plot offer. Once a plot offer is sent via email, the recipient has seven days to respond. If no response is received, their name is made inactive and removed from that site’s waiting list. If no response is received to all three sites that a person is entitled to select, their name remains on the overall list but is marked as inactive, meaning no further offers will be sent.
If you have been on the waiting list for some time, please:
- Check your junk or spam email folders.
- Add our email address to your safe senders list – allotments@ramsgatetc.org.uk
- Ensure your email address has not changed recently (or since you joined the waiting list).
If you suspect your email address is inactive or outdated, please contact
allotments@ramsgatetc.org.uk. Your email can be reactivated without losing your position on the waiting list. However, please note that our waiting list is quite long.
Ramsgate Town Council has a total of five allotments sites:
- Cecilia Road (Cemetery Gates)
- Chilton Lane East
- Chilton Lane West
- Margate Road
- Stirling Way (Jackey Bakers)
These five sites contain around 400 separate allotment plots. Some sites, like Cecilia Road and Margate Road, are small with limited capacity, while others, such as Chilton Lane East and West, are larger. If you are waiting for an allotment at one of the smaller sites, your wait may be significantly longer.
Ramsgate Town Council allotments are available to any resident of Ramsgate who lives, and remains living, within the parish boundary. You can check your address eligibility by looking at your Council Tax bill. Under the heading “
How is my bill made up?”, if Ramsgate Town Council is listed, then you are eligible for one of our allotments. If another Town or Parish Council is listed, you would be eligible for an allotment in that area (if available).
