Knowledge is Power Event: "ONCE is all it takes" is being held on Friday August 30, 2024, 10am - 3pm at Ramsgate Football Club, Southwood Stadium.

This event is being organised by the Thanet Community Safety Partnership supported by Network Rail, Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit, Victim Care, Ben Kinsella Trust, PREVENT and many more.

The event will be providing interactive safety awareness and knowledge to families and communities regarding matters such as:
  • trespass on the train lines
  • drink/drug driving
  • speeding
  • one punch can kill
  • tombstoning
  • carrying/using a knife
  • how to spot the signs of domestic abuse
  • risks around social media and gaming, and lots more.

There will be workshops on knife crime for parents, South East Coast Ambulance Service will be on hand to give some advice on what to do if someone gets hurt and how you can help them until the emergency services arrive, and the gaming bus will be there for awareness around hate and extremism.

The message is an extremely important one and we want parents, young people and the community to know the signs and how to support each other, or where to go should those signs or concerns appear. Knowledge is Power: "ONCE is all it takes" wants to make people aware ONE action, ONE bad choice, ONE comment can be all it takes to cause serious harm or death.
