Ramsgate Town Council Cultivates Community Food-Growing Initiative

Home / About Ramsgate / News / Ramsgate Town Council Cultivates Community Food-Growing Initiative

20 July 2024

Ramsgate Town Council is on a mission to cultivate a greener, more sustainable community by expanding food-growing initiatives in public spaces. We’re calling on residents to pitch in and suggest suitable locations for growing anything from fragrant herbs to fruitful trees.

Already making strides in this green endeavour, the council has kickstarted the initiative with the planting of herbs in the planters outside Radford House, formerly known as the Old Fire Station, located on Effingham Street.

Residents are encouraged to take part in this communal effort by helping themselves to the freshly grown herbs. However, the council emphasises the importance of leaving ample for others to enjoy, ensuring that the bounty is shared among the community.

For those eager to contribute or suggest potential sites for future food-growing projects, the council invites you to reach out via email at info@ramsgatetown.org.

Let's cultivate a healthier, more vibrant Ramsgate together!
