Every UK household uses an estimated 480 plastic bottles each year but only around 270 get recycled, meaning 23 million end up in landfill, sitting for up to 500 years very slowly degrading into micro-plastics, which then pollute our soil, oceans and waterways.

The Refillable Van is an independent, local mobile refill business with a vision to make environmentally friendly, zero-waste shopping easy and accessible to everyone. We do this by bringing dry foods, herbs and spices, household cleaning and self-care products to local areas, along with carefully chosen and plastic-free homeware products.
The Refillable Van comes to central Ramsgate twice a month, on the second and last Monday. The Van drives into Radford House, the old fire station on Effingham Street, working with Ramsgate Town Council to support an eco-friendly approach to how we live.
Refilling is simple. Just bring your own clean empty bottles or boxes to the Van and we will refill them with as much or as little as you need – therefore reducing plastic waste and putting you in control of how much you purchase.
The products we sell are vegan and environmentally friendly / aquatic safe. No harsh chemicals, parabens, sulphates, silicone or synthetic fragrances mean they are better for you and the planet! We only stock products from individuals and brands who share our vision to reduce waste and create a positive environmental impact.
With the world producing twice as much plastic waste than it did 20 years ago and only 9% of global plastic being recycled, we believe every refilled bottle and plastic-free swap makes a difference. Everyone making a change towards plastic free living, no matter how small, makes a positive impact on our local environment. No change is too small - every change counts!
