Help create a vision for the future of walking and cycling in Thanet
Thanet District Council has been working with Sustrans, to develop a Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (CWIP). The plan proposes new ways to connect people and places across the Isle, through safe and accessible walking and cycling routes.

In June this year Sustrans held in-person workshops and throughout July and August ran an online consultation to help them understand where people in Thanet wanted to walk and cycle, and the main barriers preventing this.

Using the information gathered at these workshops and through the online consultation tool, in combination with desk-based analysis, Sustrans has drafted a walking and cycling network for the rural part of Thanet district, to connect with the urban network which was developed in 2021.

In September, Sustrans hosted a second round of engagement workshops to gain feedback on these draft networks. If you were unable to join one of these sessions, or if you have further comments, an online consultation tool has been launched today, Monday 2 October, where you can view all the draft cycling and walking routes for the district.

We would like to invite you to review the draft network and answer a short survey, which will help in the next stages of the plan. Please find the link to the consultation tool below:

Please note that this online consultation tool will be open until Monday 16 October 2023.
