15 November 2021

Mayor of Ramsgate Raushan 2019
It has been an extremely busy time for us over the last few months, preparing our town to look clean, smart and tidy, to welcome the summer visitors. I have organised litter-picking events, known collectively as "It's a sin not to bin", as part of the Great Ramsgate Spring Clean event. I also took part in the Chine to Chine litter pick organised by John Walker and Meher Basit from The Ramsgate Society as part of this, which again was a huge success.

I am once again grateful to all of those who attended, and a massive thank you to all the participants. These include, amongst others, St Lawrence Sea Cadets, Ramsgate Arts Primary School, East Kent Mencap, various care homes and many individual volunteers, including Rabbi Cliff and Helena Cohen, Carl Whitewood plus others from the Salvation Army. Also, a huge thank you to the Ramsgate Town Council Technicians, for all their continuous efforts in keeping our town clean and safe.

I donated over a hundred litter pickers to the cause. I will be continuing with monthly litter picks, where I shall again be donating free litter pickers. These litter picks will take place on the last Thursday of the month, meeting at The Ramsgate Salvation Army Citadel in the High Street at 10am.

I was delighted to attend the Royal Harbour Academy School to present at the Year Ten Community Celebration event. I also attended Newlands Primary School to celebrate their International Food event.

Due to Covid restrictions, we were unable to hold the annual Armed Forces Day Parade. But despite this, I raised the flag to commemorate those who have served, and are currently serving, in our Armed Forces. I have also attended several other Mayoral engagements.

As your Thanet District Councillor, I am always available for my Central Harbour Ward residents, and I will look after you in any way possible. Housing and refuse collections are both ongoing issues that are affecting Ramsgate, and I am grateful to everyone who has been in touch asking me for help.

It was great to receive many visitors over the summer, which helped to generate an income for all our local businesses! Autumn is here and there are lots of events taking place over the next few months too. Please come and be part of them and enjoy all that our town has to offer.
