Introducing the new USEEUM app to Ramsgate residents!

The Useeum app is the fastest growing museum and heritage digital platform in Europe. The company, in conjunction with Your Heritage UK Ltd, wanted to launch their product in the UK. As luck would have it, the director of Your Heritage UK, Adrian Smith, hails from Ramsgate and was keen to launch the app in a town steeped in history that he loves and knows very well.

We hope to have this app up and running before our visitors flock to the coast for a much needed break and would love for this product, supported by Ramsgate Town Council, to be seen as a great resource for them. That’s where you come in! What we would like to do in the run up to reopening for visitors, is for local people to ‘beta test’ (posh lingo for being guinea pigs!) the app by trying out the Experience Trail called Eva’s War and giving us some feedback on it. There are also some free trails that you might like to do with more being added later on in the year. A couple of them have been around for a while; The Pugin and the Blue Plaque Trails, but both trails had a ‘revamp’ during 2020 and there is also a new Van Gogh trail for you to have a go at, which is only about 1.5 miles long.

As I mentioned above, the main product that has been developed in partnership with Ramsgate Tunnels and Your Heritage Ltd is an experience trail called Eva’s War which will cost a few pounds for visitors to access but if you agree to be a guinea pig, we can give you a special code to access for free, try out the ’experience’ and then complete a short survey at the end of the trail, giving us feedback on it. If you fancy delving into Eva’s War, which incidentally, is based on a real person who at 100 years of age, is still living in Ramsgate, email Adrian at ramsgate@yourheritage.uk and he will provide you with all the info you need to ‘beta test’ the trail.

Now that the wonderful community magazine is bi-monthly, we should be able to provide you with updates on the app in the early autumn edition. In the meantime, tell your friends and family about it and more importantly, encourage your visitors (fingers crossed from mid June!) to download the FREE app and have a play! We will also promote our bigger events on the app so hopefully it will encourage visitors to return and experience more of what our lovely town has to offer. If all goes to plan with the ‘Road Map to Recovery’, we can expect some of our fab events to return this year, including Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival, Ramsgate Week Regatta, Addington Street Fair, the Carnival, Festival of Sound, to mention a few.

If you want to know more about the USEEUM app, head over to the Useeum Article for a bit more info but please do join in if you can!
