The Great Ramsgate Spring Clean, May 28 – June 13, 2021

The Great Ramsgate Spring Clean is part of Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Big Spring Clean.

The Spring Clean consists of a series of short local litter-picks across town aimed at tackling ‘grotspots’ and areas that attract litter, each organised by a different group of local residents.

All the groups are members of the Ramsgate Litter Forum, an umbrella body of 20+ local litter-picking, gardening and environmental groups working with Thanet District Council and Ramsgate Town Council to try to reduce street litter in Ramsgate.

There’s been an annual Spring Clean in Ramsgate for several years now, though sadly last year's had to be cancelled at the last minute as a result of the pandemic – so the pictures are from previous years (and as you see, happened before social distancing!).

Keep Britain Tidy has moved Spring Clean 2021 to May/June in the hope it won’t be disrupted, and our member groups are busy planning litter-picking and awareness-raising events all over town throughout the fortnight. This year’s planned litter picks include:

• Friday May 28 at 10am: ‘Ramsgate Gateway’ (Canterbury Road East)
• Saturday May 29 at 10am: ‘Chatham Triangle’
• Saturday May 29 at 11am: Boundary Park
• Wednesday June 2 (time to be decided): Winterstoke Chine
• Friday June 4 at 11am: St Luke’s Avenue
• Saturday June 12 (time to be decided): Victoria Parade and Winterstoke Gardens
• Sunday June 13 at 10am to 12noon: Chine to Chine Coastal Clean

Anyone can get involved for all or part of any litter-picking session (usually one or two hours). Children are also very welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Social distancing and guidelines on group sizes will be observed at all events. Pickers, hoops, rubbish bags and Covid hygiene items will be provided for all events and bags of rubbish picked up afterwards. (Thank you, Ramsgate Town Council!)
