We are now heading towards the summer months, which usually brings an increase in young people jumping off the pier, commonly known as “tombstoning”.

As the name tombstoning suggests, it’s an extremely dangerous activity to take part in, with people being injured every year. Please encourage your children not to get involved in this activity and educate them about the dangers. The most concerning element of it is the forever changing landscape of the seabed. A person may jump into a particular bit of water multiple times without any issues. However, if there has been some bad weather or strong tides, extra sand/debris could have been deposited in that spot. This then makes that spot shallower than before and the risk of hitting the bottom or a foreign object extremely high.

Since the last newsletter we have two new officers that now work in Ramsgate:
PC Duane Parsons - Eastcliff and Sir Moses Montefiore wards.
PC Jim Howard - Newington, Cliffsend and Pegwell, and Nethercourt wards.

Please contact police on 999 in an emergency or via 101 or the Kent Police website for non-urgent reporting.

We would like to hear from you about any issues you are having, information on vulnerable residents living your area of Ramsgate and any reports of outstanding community work that has been done. We truly believe in working in partnership with the local community to achieve the same common goal of:

Creating a safe, clean and caring community that we can be proud of and for others to aspire to.
