01 March 2025

As we look forward to a new year of opportunities and events, I would like to thank all who helped make 2024 a better year for everyone. From the work of our dedicated street cleaners to the volunteers who helped support that work, and those building community networks in our town.

Ramsgate Town Council (RTC) Technicians and Thanet District Council (TDC) street cleaners work tirelessly to keep our town tidy. This is a daily challenge, I would also like to thank all the volunteers who join in my monthly litter picks to support their work. It is also a wonderful opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise; socialise and build a community.

I would like to thank Carl Whitewood and The Salvation Army in Ramsgate who have partnered up with many of the community events, organised by myself and others. In December, I was very proud to launch the Ramsgate Living Advent Calendar for The Salvation Army’s homeless support project in Ramsgate.

Together with local businesses and the community we raised £4,559.00. We also had a volunteers thank you meal at the Salvation Army to celebrate the festive season. It was wonderful to meet so many of our amazing volunteers.

2025 is an excellent opportunity to build on our new and established events which continue to bring in visitors to our town. International Women's Day, on March 8, 2025 will be held at my family business premise, it continues to prove successful as does the International Peace Day event organised in partnership with our local Salvation Army and Ramsgate Synagogue. It was wonderful to see so many people of different faiths and philosophies come together in the name of peace and understanding.

Congratulations to the volunteers at Ellington Park on receiving the Green Flag Award. I was delighted to attend the award ceremony along with the volunteers and one of my ward colleagues to receive the award on behalf of Ramsgate. This is the third time Ellington Park has received the award, which is quite an achievement.

We had our second Ramsgate Day to celebrate local food and music, and I hope we can continue to build on this each year. With the return of the Ramsgate market, I am sure more stalls will return as it becomes a regular event. To end 2024, we celebrated New Year's Eve with a magnificent Lumiere Parade. It is my hope that this will become an established event which is sure to bring in more visitors.

I am pleased to tell you that the refurbishment of the Spencer Square Tennis Courts was completed back in September and is now in full use by local residents.

As your District Councillor, housing is an issue for many of our residents. There is some good news as Thanet District Council is continuing its programme to create hundreds of additional council homes. This will mean more local families and individuals will have access to social housing.

As usual, I will keep you all updated on events and am always available for my residents who need help.

Announcement: This year's International Women's Day will take place on Saturday March 8, 2025 at 1pm, at the Ramsgate Tandoori. For further information please check my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/raushandulan
