A warm welcome to Ramsgate Croquet Club

Here you will find a friendly club that welcomes and encourages new members.

The club is situated on the Royal Esplanade next to the Bowling Club and Boating Pool and has four immaculately kept lawns and a welcoming clubhouse. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful settings in the country. We are a friendly group of people who enjoy playing the game - we have members who simply want to have fun, meet people, be outdoors and get some exercise as well as those who are more competitive and enjoy playing in competitions held at the club, around the county and further afield.

If, as most members do, you would like to play socially, our golf croquet club days are Tuesdays and Thursdays when there will always be lots of people ready for a game. Members who play association croquet generally play on Wednesdays and Fridays, but lawns are also available at other times Monday through to Friday from 9:30am until dusk. Lawn maintenance usually takes place on Monday and Friday mornings so play may be restricted then. We have “Roll Up” sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings when no competitions are running so people can just turn up at the club and there will be members there available to play and/or advise on playing. As a member you’ll have access to a lawn booking system and a WhatsApp group to arrange games with fellow members.

If you would like to try it out, then please come along to one of our Club Days either on Tuesday or Thursday mornings when there will always be a friendly face ready to welcome you to the club and the game. All you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes. We have a stock of mallets, and we’ll give you the basic instruction you’ll need. We offer free taster sessions for people who want to find out more about the game.

Croquet is enjoyed by all ages, abilities and levels of experience. It’s an ideal game for people who might find certain sports more challenging but want to be active, get healthy, be out in the fresh air and meet new people.

We also have a small junior section who play every Sunday with tuition from our coaches. If there are any young people who might be interested in trying the game, please do get in touch.
