History:
1. Councillor Trevor Shonk became the 66th Mayor of Ramsgate at the
Annual Council Meeting on 20th May 2015, was re-elected on 4th May
2016, the 3rd May 2017 and again on 2nd May 2018.
2. The Mayor has strong family roots in the Isle of Thanet, he was born in
Ramsgate and has lived here all his life.
3. He is married with one daughter.
4. He is a town and district councillor for Central Harbour Ward.
5. He strongly encourages promoting the local economy and getting
Ramsgate back on the map.
6. The Mayor is a member of Ramsgate Twinning Association and also a
member of Montefiore Heritage Association.
7. The Mayor raised around £4,600 for two local charities (Hornets Boxing
Club and the Ramsgate Sea Scouts) during his 2015 year; he raised
£5,700 for three local charities (2433 (Ramsgate & Manston) Squadron
Air Cadets, Ramsgate Girl Guides and Pancreatic Cancer Research)
during his 2016 year; he raised £3,000 for three local charities (East
Kent Independant Dementia Support, East Kent Mencap and the Miss
Ramsgate Organisation) during his 2017 year and donated £100 each
to the following schools: The Royal Harbour Academy, Forelands Fields
School and Newlands School.
