History:
Son of M.J. Poole, born at Wokingham; of Scots descent on
father's side, and on his mother's side comes from the Deal
branch of the Boys family.

Educated locally; lived in Ramsgate from 1870 where he was in
business for many years.

Entered the Town Council in 1897 and retained his seat until
1902.

Elected Mayor 1902/03 initiated the petition to the Queen in
council for the formation of a Borough Bench, was an original
member of the commission.

Chairman of the Borough Technical Education Committee
from its establishment organised the technical schools in
existence in 1904, also was actively involved in establishing a
Public Library at Ramsgate.

Married to Flora McBride, with one son (in 1904)
