Years Elected: 1947

History:
Became a member of Ramsgate Town Council in 1935, with outstanding
service noted in the Field of Chairman of the Finance Committee.

Was deputy Mayor for 2 years preceeding 1947.

Member of Ramsgate Chamber of Commerce.

Elected an alderman in 1940.

Took a keen interest in Education, was chairman of the governors of
Chatham House and Clarendon House Schools.

Served as member of the Ramsgate and District Education committee
and also the Thanet Divisional Executive of the Kent Education
committee.

Twice president of the Ramsgate Chamber of Commerce, and served for
a year as president of the Kent (East) Federation of Chambers of
Commerce.

Associated in his early days with the Ramsgate Congregational Church.

Served an apprenticeship in London, and when he returned to Ramsgate
renewed his association with the Church. In recognition of his 30 years
service to the Church he was made a life deacon in 1946.

Proprietor of a long established Drapery Business in the Harbour Street.

Left a widow, two sons and one daughter.

Died at home, 12 Harbour Street, aged 70 years on October 31st 1948.
