News / Weekly Security Patrol Update - 8 December
Ramsgate Town Council now receives weekly patrol logs, photos, and bodycam footage from our new Probe Security officers. We want everyone to know what’s happening in our town, so we’ll share a short update like this every week.
What our security officers did this last week:
- Stopped shoplifting: Officers responded quickly to reports of shoplifters at Poundland, spoke to suspects, and helped recover stolen goods. They also kept a visible presence in shops like Boots, Iceland, and KFC to deter theft.
- Helped vulnerable people: Officers searched for a missing lady with dementia and checked public toilets and the town until she was found safe. They also spoke to homeless people, listened to their concerns, and checked they were okay.
- Dealt with anti-social behaviour: Officers spoke to people drinking in public, calmed down arguments, and stepped in when there was shouting or aggressive behaviour. They reported serious incidents to the police and made sure everyone was safe.
- Worked with local businesses: Officers checked in with shop staff, market managers, and business owners, listened to their concerns, and made sure they felt supported. They also worked closely with local police officers.
- Kept public spaces safe: Regular patrols covered parks, car parks, gardens, the sea front, and busy streets. Officers checked for fly tipping, graffiti, and other issues, and made sure these areas were safe for everyone.
- Listened to the community: Officers spoke to residents, who welcomed their presence. People said they were happy to see security officers out and about, helping to keep Ramsgate safe.
Please remember that these security officers do not replace the police. Residents and business owners must still report all crimes and emergencies directly to Kent Police.
Look out for our next update next week!
