24 February 2026

Ramsgate Town Council continues to receive weekly patrol logs, photos, and body worn camera footage from our Probe Security officers. These updates help us stay informed about what is happening in the town centre and allow us to respond quickly where needed. Below is a summary of this week’s activity across Ramsgate.

Supporting Residents and Vulnerable People
  • Officers spoke regularly with homeless residents and checked their wellbeing, including getting hot drinks for those sleeping rough and keeping in contact with individuals waiting on accommodation support.
  • They provided reassurance to people feeling intimidated, including calming someone affected by public accusations and helping elderly residents with mobility issues or concerns.

Keeping the Town Safe and Calm
  • Officers responded to reports of aggressive behaviour, disturbances, and street drinking.
  • They broke up groups fighting outside shops, dealt with disruptive youths, and moved on people causing problems in Charlotte Court, the High Street, and Harbour Street.
  • Several shoplifting incidents were managed quickly, with items recovered and information shared with police and retailers.

Working Closely with Local Shops
  • Officers checked in with dozens of businesses daily. Shops reported feeling reassured by the patrols, and some shared useful information about thefts or suspicious behaviour.
  • Feedback forms were handed out and collected from town centre businesses to help build a picture of how the security scheme is working.
  • Officers also supported the market traders and responded when a stall was damaged during an altercation.

Protecting Public Spaces
  • Daily patrols covered the High Street, Harbour, parks, car parks, sea front, Albion Gardens, Charlotte Court, Camden Square and surrounding streets.
  • Officers reported overflowing sharps bins, fly tipping, rubbish issues, and blocked or unsafe areas, ensuring concerns were passed on quickly for action.
  • They monitored repeated issues like vehicles driving up the pedestrianised High Street, shutting the gate when needed and speaking to drivers.

Partnership Working
  • Officers coordinated with Kent Police during several incidents, sharing descriptions, passing footage and supporting on scene responses.
  • Police officers also reported to the security team that they have been receiving fewer 999 calls relating to street drinking and disruptive behaviour, noting a positive improvement in the town.
  • Officers shared safety advice with residents, shop staff, and delivery drivers when needed.

Community Engagement
  • Officers spent time speaking with members of the public, shop owners, market traders and councillors. Many people commented positively on their presence — especially during busy periods or in poor weather.
  • The team provided directions, reassurance and general assistance throughout the week.

A Reminder to Residents and Businesses
The Patrol Team is here to support the community, provide reassurance and help deter anti social behaviour — but they do not replace Kent Police.

All crimes and emergencies must still be reported directly to Kent Police.

Look out for our next update next week!
