13 January 2026

Ramsgate Town Council continues to receive weekly patrol logs, photos, and body worn footage from our Probe Security officers. These updates help us keep track of what’s happening in the town centre and allow us to respond quickly to concerns raised by residents and businesses.

Here is a summary of the activity carried out by our security officers this week:

Supporting Vulnerable Residents
  • Officers checked in regularly with homeless residents, including providing hot drinks and welfare checks to those sleeping rough in cold weather.
  • They reassured individuals who felt unfairly blamed for incidents in town, spending time listening and offering support when needed.
  • Officers assisted elderly residents, including helping two partially sighted women safely reach their destinations along the High Street.

Responding to Incidents & Maintaining Safety
  • Officers dealt with reports of shop thefts, including responding to calls from Iceland, Peacocks and a vape shop, and monitoring suspicious individuals in the High Street and surrounding areas.
  • They attended an incident at The Royal where a woman refused to leave and became disruptive, coordinating with Kent Police via radio and capturing the behaviour on bodycam.
  • Officers responded to concerns about children cycling dangerously or racing through the town centre, asking them to dismount and walk their bikes for public safety.
  • They also monitored traffic breaches when cars repeatedly entered the pedestrian only High Street, closing gates when needed and speaking directly with drivers to prevent reoccurrences.

Visible Presence & Business Support
  • Officers checked in with local shops throughout the week, including Poundland, Boots, Peacocks, Iceland, and Waitrose, many of whom reported no issues and expressed appreciation for the patrols—especially in bad weather.
  • They reassured retailers affected by repeat anti social behaviour and theft, sharing information and helping staff stay alert to individuals previously involved in incidents.
  • Officers also received positive feedback from members of the public, who said they were glad to see a visible presence on cold, quiet days in town.

Keeping Public Spaces Safe & Clean
  • Daily patrols covered parks, car parks, gardens, the harbour, and main shopping areas, with officers reporting issues such as overflowing sharps bins, damaged bike racks, and litter hotspots to the appropriate services.
  • All public toilets across the town were checked multiple times a day to ensure they remained clean, safe, and accessible for residents and visitors.

Reassuring Presence in a Very Quiet Week
Cold weather and low footfall meant fewer incidents than usual, but officers remained active throughout—patrolling high visibility routes, responding to radio calls, and staying available to the community even on very quiet days.

A Reminder to Residents
These security patrols are here to support the community, but they do not replace the police. All crimes and emergencies must still be reported directly to Kent Police.

Look out for our next update next week!
