Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival Returns!

Home / About Ramsgate / News / Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival Returns!

09 June 2023

Now in its seventh year, The Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival is proud to return from June 22 to 25. Last year was the first physical outing after two virtual editions during Covid lockdowns. 2022 was a particularly successful year, which saw a large number of international visitors from countries as diverse as Serbia, Nepal, Mexico, Italy, the United States, … boosting the local economy. With Oscar nominated, BAFTA winning actress and the festival’s Patron, Brenda Blethyn OBE, in attendance for the duration of the festival.

This year, four days of screenings and special events will take place in various venues across town. These will include the popular screening event of Kent’s best work, followed by a networking BBQ at the Falstaff Hotel, which has become a classic, where the evening is bound to be packed. We will be closing the festival with the Awards Ceremony on Sunday June 25, with the presentation of the Anchor Award, a solid bronze award designed by the late Dominic Grant, and other prizes for all winners.

This year is the start of a new journey in partnership with the Kent Film Foundation and The Stage Door Arts Academy CIC. This will enable the offering of more events and courses for the most deprived youth in our community. The curation of the festival will be in partnership with Violet Pictures, who have successfully curated the Folkestone Documentary Festival, now in its third year, a partnership that shall lead to year-round screenings.

The future of the festival looks bright with the aim of being more accessible. Talks and seminars will have sign language and will be available online post-festival screenings. All foreign films selected for the festival will have English subtitles and this year the festival hopes to access funding to offer closed caption screenings so the films can be accessed by the hard of hearing. Talks and seminars will be on offer to the public as well as networking events for professional filmmakers.

Ticket information will be made available nearer the time, with many events and screenings for FREE.
