News / St. George’s Church annual parade to celebrate St. George’s Day - April 27, 2025 at 12:15pm
For the third year running, St. George’s Church is working in partnership with Great British Carnival to bring a dazzling community parade and celebration to the town. There will be
free parade workshops starting on Wednesday February 5, 5pm - 7pm at St. George’s Church Hall, Broad Street and then every Wednesday leading up to the parade on April 27. These are free, family workshops making costumes, props and puppets for the parade. All ages are welcome.
The Parade will begin to form up in St. George's Churchyard when the service ends at 12noon and expects to move off at approximately 12:15pm. We will parade to the bottom of the High Street and be back for the delicious lunchtime soup in St. George's Church Hall.
Jemima Brown, the Church Regeneration Officer, said: “
The annual parade brings fun and colour to the High Street and brings people together to enjoy themselves. The Parade will take place on the pedestrianised part of the High Street and end with a community lunch for everyone. We have a beautiful Church in the centre of the town and a great community space in the Hall, so we are excited to celebrate St. George and his special place in our town”.
Teresa Askew of Great British Carnival said “
We are delighted to work with St. George’s Church to create this beautiful Spring parade for the town. It’s loads of fun for families and indeed everyone. There is a place for everyone in the Parade. St. George’s Day is celebrated throughout Spain and Brazil, and he has a special place in the hearts of the Samba Schools of Brazil, so Ramsgate’s very own drumming band ‘Samba Ya Wantsum’ will be providing the beat to move your feet. Expect dragons, knights, horses, Princes and Princesses, samba beats, colour and fun. Oh, and maybe a few giants and a smoke breathing dragon”.

5pm – 7pm
March 5, 12, 19 and 26;
April 2, 9, 16, and 23
