Carnival 15.01.2014
After the success of last year’s parade, St George’s Church are working in partnership with Great British Carnival to bring another spectacular community parade and celebration to Ramsgate. In preparation for the festivities there will be free costume making workshops on Saturday afternoons, 20th and 27th April at St George’s Church Hall, Broad St, Ramsgate, and all ages are welcome.

Jemima Brown, Regeneration Officer for St George’s Church said: “The Church and Hall are already the focus for lots of activity which brings the community together, with the shop and the weekly meal putting St George’s at the heart of the community in the Town Centre. Last year’s parade was such a fun event, bringing people together to enjoy themselves. The parade will take place on the pedestrianised part of the High Street and end with a community lunch in the hall for everyone. We have a beautiful Church in the centre of the Town and a great community space in the Hall, so we are excited to work with GB Carnival again to celebrate St George and his special place in our Town”.

Teresa Askew of Great British Carnival said:We are delighted to work with St George’s Church again to create another Spring parade event for the Town. St George’s Day is celebrated throughout Europe as well as in Brazil and St George is the patron Saint of Samba, so Ramsgate’s very own Bloco ‘Samba Ya Wantsum’ will once again be providing the beat to move your feet. This event will be a real celebration of Spring, so expect dragons, knights, Jack and Jill in the Green, samba beats and LOTS of fun”.
