A Message from the Mayor of Ramsgate - September 2022

01 September 2022

The last few months have been very busy for Ramsgate, and I have had the pleasure of attending some wonderful events and welcoming new businesses into our town.

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, Ramsgate had four days of fun and entertainment, bringing in many visitors and boosting our local tourism trade.

I was proud to attend the opening of several new restaurants and businesses on Harbour Street and in Ramsgate Town and wish all our new owners ‘fair winds’.

Ramsgate Sea Garden has been revitalised and thanks go to Pam Hurdenburge and her team. I was proud to support our volunteers and would like to thank Ramsgate Town Council who helped with plants, materials, and tools. New volunteers will always be welcome, on Thursdays, from 9am until 11am, at the Sea Garden along Marina Esplanade.

As part of Ramsgate revitalisation, local artist Ruth Cutler transformed an area of wasteland on the Eastern Undercliff into a walk and art installation; by creating a spiral which can be walked or viewed from the cliff top. The spiral expands out from the old boating pool and leads back to the ‘Sea Garden’.

I have lived and worked in Ramsgate for over 30 years and our town has seen many difficulties and challenges, it is our community spirit that has helped us survive these challenges. As your Mayor, Councillor and local business woman I am glad to see that our town is now seeing positive changes with new business, jobs and housing, ensuring that Ramsgate also thrives.
