News / Kent Police Update - October 2025
As we enter the Autumn season, the next holiday is Halloween. Traditionally, this time of the year sees an increase in anti-social behaviour and crime.
For Children and Trick-or-Treaters
Stay visible: Wear light-coloured costumes, use reflective tape and carry torches.
Go with a group: Never go out alone. Young children should always be accompanied by an adult.
Stick to familiar areas: Visit houses in well-lit, familiar areas. Only approach doors/houses that have decorations or pumpkins outside.
Don’t enter homes: Only accept treats at the door and never go inside a stranger’s home or car.
Respect others’ property: Vandalism or pranks that damage property could lead to police involvement.
For Drivers
Slow down: Drive well below the speed limit in residential areas.
Watch for kids: Children can be unpredictable, expect them to dart into the road.
Use headlights early: Even before dark, keep them on for better visibility.
For Homeowners
Do not feel the need to partake in the festivities and do not answer the door to any unknown persons. Consider displaying signs informing people that trick or treaters are not welcome.
Report suspicious activity to the police, do not go outside and investigate.
As always, we would like to hear from you about any issues you are having, about vulnerable persons living in your area and any reports of outstanding community work that have been done.
We truly believe working in partnership with the local community to achieve the same common goal of:
Creating a safe, clean and caring community that we can be proud of and for others to aspire to.
Please contact Kent police on 999 in an emergency or via 101 or use the Kent Police website for non-urgent reporting.
