The new book
“The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate” by Janet Munslow is now available.
This new 68-page hardback book covers over 200 years of the history of the harbour, which to this day, is still the only Royal Harbour in the UK. The book contains a range of colour and black and white photographs and original commissioned artwork. Subject matter covers the Harbour’s history and includes; building techniques, the fishing industry, trade, leisure, assistance at sea, lifeboats, naval activities, and of course, the Little Ships’ role in the evacuation of troops in World War 2 from the beaches and waters of Dunkirk.
The book is endorsed by local, award winning actor Brenda Blethyn and makes a great ‘coffee table’, easy to read, reference book, full of historical information. The book would also make as a great Christmas gift, as a stocking filler, for all lovers of Ramsgate and for those interested in a range of subjects that encompass the UK’s unique role in offering not only a ‘safe harbour’ to ships but also the development of our Harbour’s role over the last 200 years.
