Festival of Sound
The Ramsgate Festival of Sound will take place from September 6 to 13, 2020 – moved from its usual July slot due to COVID-19.

Producers Andrew Gibson and Gemma Dempsey have been working hard over the last few months to ensure the show could go on and be compliant with current guidelines. They are thrilled to be able to announce a fun and inspiring programme to entertain all ages, and almost all the events are free to attend.

The opening event will take place on September 6 in the beautiful Vale Square, where there will be shows and activities for babies and children, alongside sound installations that form part of the ever popular Sonic Trail. In addition, there will be performances from Lunatraktors and Thomas Traux, opening for the Screaming Alley cabaret that afternoon.

In order to comply with government guidelines these shows will be ticketed to ensure everyone’s safety and will be for ages 16+. Other Sonic Trail sound installations can be discovered around the town and seafront, and all can be visited on any day, 12noon to 5pm from Thursday September 10 to Sunday September 13. The Bedford Inn on Westcliff Road will be home to some of the Festival’s activities too.

The Festival is producing its first Busk At Dusk this year, located along the East Cliff, beginning in Winterstoke Gardens and continuing in the beachfront shelters from 6pm - 9pm on September 12. We’re putting the finishing touches to the artist line up as this goes to print, but be sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy as well as the stunning coastal setting.

Given the evolving situation regarding COVID-19, please be sure to check our website for up-to-date information as well as our social media (see below). Look out for our printed brochure with the Sonic Trail map released in August! It has been such a difficult year for everyone and we can’t wait to bring some much-needed entertainment to the community.

We couldn’t have done this without the support and funding from The Arts Council of England, Ramsgate Town Council, South East Creatives (SEECADS), our Angel Founding Members, and to Suzy Humphries and Ramsgate Arts - thank you one and all!

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you at this year’s Ramsgate’s Festival of Sound, September 6 - 13!
