Miss Ramsgate 2020
The Miss Ramsgate Organisation had a very good but emotional evening on Saturday March 7, when the Town Court of 2019 stood down and a new Town Court was chosen. The event was held at the Southwood Club, Ramsgate F.C. and was attended by: the Mayor of Ramsgate, Councillor Raushan Ara; Master of Ceremonies, Ralph Hoult; and Carnival Courts from across Kent.

The retiring Court of 2019 were thanked for their hard work for this year as Ambassadors for Ramsgate. They attended 60 events including 14 carnivals across Kent and won 33 awards at these carnivals. The Court standing down were: Deputy Miss Ramsgate, Paige Barkham, who has served for four years on the Court; Miss Ramsgate, Alisha Maskell; and Princesses, Lucy Woodward and Alyssa Redford-Taylor.

It was a very emotional time as the girls have enjoyed being on the Court so much, and it was very sad. We had a few tears when they stepped down.

Alisha was offered the position of Deputy Queen for the forthcoming year, while the two Princesses re-entered the competition along with two other lovely young ladies. The contestants all had to make a speech about themselves and their favourite place in Ramsgate, as well as be interviewed informally by the five judges. The judges had a very hard decision to make. At 9:30pm the Chairman, Mr Roger Pearce, made the announcement that everyone had been waiting for, the Mayor was waiting to crown each girl in turn. Deputy Princess went to Charley Bowell, Joint Princesses are Lucy Woodward and Saskia Longley and Miss Ramsgate 2020 is Alyssa Taylor- Redford.

The girls have already started to form a great friendship in preparation for their busy but fun packed year ahead. On Sunday March 8, they went out to their first event in Sittingbourne where they have already received many compliments.

If you wish to follow what the Town Court are doing throughout the year, please go to the Miss Ramsgate Organisation Facebook page or see the girls on one of the Ramsgate Facebook pages. If you see the Court out in the Town or elsewhere please come up and say hello. They love to talk to everyone and will happily pose with you for photographs.

We would like to say a big thank you to Ramsgate Town Council and Thanet District Council for all their support.
