When you have invited a talented, emerging young artist to have a solo exhibition in your gallery and then COVID-19 erupts, lockdown ensues, you feel very sad that the new work specially created is not going to be seen….so Ramsgate gallery owner Suzy Humphries and assistant Ella Wood hit the ‘solutions’ button and created a new website to sell art and profile the artists involved!

Rory Strudwick is an artist based in Westgate and working from Resort Studios in Margate. His new show ‘How to Break a Hue’ is print-based work on paper and textiles. It is all about colour (the hues) and his talent is obvious. Says Rory: “The overall theme of my work centres on the behaviour of colour through light, by exploring shape, colour composition and colour mixing. However, this project introduces the notion of ‘word play’ within my work. Each piece is named a verb/noun that inspire the forms relative to a set of sample lighting gels used in theatre production.

There are nine works on show and for sale, with titles including Fell, Glitch and Peel, ranging from £65 - £300. Come and explore our virtual Current Exhibition at and find out more about Rory and his work through the short film he made for us in his home workspace which he uses during lockdown to stay focused on his art.
