Newington’s Chill Club is a weekly youth club for children and young people aged 10-18 years that runs at Newington Community Centre on a Monday evening from 6pm-8pm, in partnership with Newington Big Local. Each week the young people that attend have the opportunity to get involved in many activities including arts and crafts, film-making, music, sports like Serves Tennis (a brilliant indoor version of tennis), dancing, music, cooking, games and much more. We also organise trips including visits to Dreamland, National Tennis Centre in London, the beach and team building at Lambourne End Centre in Essex.
This work is youth-led, highly participatory and we consult with the young people and ask them what they are interested in. For example, a couple of the young women were really interested in cooking so we set-up a Cooking Club, with sessions twice a month. Young people decide what they would like to make and cook for the group. Young people also have the opportunity to be involved in wider community events and projects including Best Fest, Newington’s community arts festival, work with other artists and creative projects like Creative Newington. Ultimately, the club supports and builds positive relationships with young people.
aim4 Partnerships CiC is very passionate about working with young people and providing positive opportunities. We want to ensure that young people are empowered to make positive changes and show the community how brilliant they are given the right opportunities and support to do so.
